Pianiste et compositeur anglais, John Barry débute dans le jazz avant d’insuffler dans ses partitions un certain raffinement orchestral. Dés les années 60, il est associé aux premiers James Bond. Il travaille avec des américains (Arthur Penn, Sidney Lumet, Coppola, Pollack) sans oublier ses compatriotes (Richard Lester, Joseph Losey). Il pratique tous les genres cinématographiques et rafle 5 Oscars (dont “Out of Africa” et “Danse avec les Loups”).
